While reminiscing over Renoir’s eternally beautiful flower bouquets in 2010, Dokoupil painted this exceptional group of soap bubble paintings. We are pleased to show the artist’s idiosyncratic meditation on the Impressionist master’s esthetical research. Composition, colour and light; transparency, iridescence and opacity are their common formal preoccupations; creating metaphors of the sublime, their common obsession.
